Project: FY08 Rail Upgrade & Locomotive Maintenance

Client: Department of the Army
Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord

Total additional track in the IC Yard area amounted to approx 10,200 linear feet of track, ties and ballast as well as associated crossovers, highway grade crossing and all site work associated with its expansion. A gravel maintenance road was provided on both the north and south sides of the IC Yard as well as new exterior lighting and fencing on most of the perimeter. Work also included construction of a new Locomotive Maintenance Facility (LMF) that provides maintenance and storage space for three locomotives along with a small office/breakroom space. The LMF also houses tool/janitor area, bathroom with shower, electrical and communications closets, the shop area (4900 sq. ft.) with a below-ground-surface maintenance pit for one locomotive space and several large overhead coiling doors.
