Spanish Steps Historic Rehabilitation
City of Tacoma

Pease Construction was recently awarded the contract to renovate and restore the historic Spanish Steps in Tacoma. The steps have been neglected for almost a decade and the City of Tacoma had to make a decision to either close the steps permanently or renovate them. The City decided to renovate the steps because of the renovation of the Elk's building, located next to the steps.
Our construction crew has started the renovation and plans to complete the project in the fall of 2010. The project scope includes preparation of cleaning the steps, workers will remove the cracks by using a mortar mix, the urns will need to be replaced, many of the balusters will be replaced as well, and then miscellaneous work will be completed to restore the steps to its original character.
